The first section done and pressed. Now moving onto the next section and the next and the next!
By chance, these 2 1/2"accent squares ended up in a perfect four patch square. Couldn't of planned it better.
I finished it in my motel room late one night. If you have ever done one of these quilts you know that you can't plan this quilt out. It is really fun to do and the outcome on this one reminded me of an American flag. I couldn't wait to get it quilted and start using it. My first intentions for this quilt was to use it as a picnic blanket or stadium blanket but it's just to cute to leave in the car trunk! It needs to be displayed in the house, but the girl's at the shop thought it ought to be there.
So, yes it's at the shop this 4th of July. I wanted it quilted in an all over paisley design to match the outer border. I love everything about this quilt. Maybe I can get it back in time to use during our state holiday, the 24th of July.
There are all sorts of free tutorials on You Tube for this quilt. It will be appearing on our class list this fall, watch for it and start watching for that perfect jelly roll.
Happy 4th of July everyone. Have a fun day celebrating our nations birthday.
This is a cute "America" quilt Shannon. Do you have a name for it yet? I saw the quilt and it made me think "America the beautiful" just like the song. I love that song and I love the quilt you made. I think it will be used often at the White House!
ReplyDeleteSleeping under such a nice quilt is like an American Dream! Beautiful.
