They have arrived,

here in America.  Yvonne, Alex, Rennie and Rene' landed yesterday in Chicago after a long flight from the Netherlands.  They will pick up their RV's and start on their 3 week journey.  A week from today we will all be meeting in Moab to start a 2 week sight seeing vacation.  From Moab we will travel to many of  the National Parks, Las Vegas, St. George, Bryce Canyon and back here to our place for a few days. 

Oh, and I forgot to mention that we will be visiting the quilt shop (It's Sew Moab) there in Moab where this fantastic friendship all started, back in 2009.  So looking forward to it.

Thanks everyone for all of the nice comments.  I knew there were several of you still viewing my blog.  And hopefully there are still lots of you out there that are just like me and don't take the time to comment but still follow the things I post about.  It is my hope that you can get some inspirations and ideas for you own projects.  I will continue to do my best at getting things together, posting about my sewing adventures and fun things we are doing here at the White house.

The Queen Bee Quilting Bag

Isn't this an awesome bag?  I found the pattern on the Moda Bake Shop while searching for a bag to teach at the annual Pie Plate Pattern's Spring Retreat.  It's a huge bag, as you can see in the pics.  By the time I get this up on my shoulder I have about 6" before it hits the ground.  

 It uses 1 charm pack of your favorite fabric line and yardage of two prints that coordinate.  I used Aneela Hooley's Sew Stitchy for my charm pack and the grey pins fabric for my lining and handles.  For the back side of my bag I used yardage from the Oh Deer line.  Both fabrics are Moda.  I did make a few minor changes to my bag.

It holds my cutting mat, acrylic extension table, rulers, iron and a whole lot of other sewing supplies that I might need to take to sewing retreats.  You will definately feel like a Queen Bee when you show up at your next Bee or quilting class sporting this bag.

"SEW" out of my Element!

Today I am working on a special project and for this special something I need 8 tiny 9 patch blocks.  Now to some of you this isn't tiny.  But for me this is "SEW" out of my element.  I usually like bigger piecing.  But thanks to my Clover Fork Pins the result of my first block is gorgeous!  Love, love, love

these pins.  Have you all got some of these in your notions drawer?   If not ya gotta get ya some!

Winter Bindings!

Last fall when I was digging through my junky fabric closet I found these four quilts that hadn't been quilted yet.  I had them quilted, put the bindings on all of them and waited for winter to get here so I could bind them on cold evenings.  Guess how many I have done?  ONE! The one folded right there in the front. I had it done right after the quilting so I could use it as a baby gift, but the others are still waiting to be stitched. 

So I wonder what happened to the cold winter evenings of stitching.  I guess they have been replaced with just sitting under a warm quilt watching television or sitting at the sewing machine making new ones!!  I'm not worried, with time they will get done.  It's all about time, right?

HI!

Hi there, I know I am a wee bit behind but that just seems how I am working lately.  This cute quilt was made back in January.  One day while I was a work I was helping a customer put together a baby quilt with these same colors.  After she left I just kept adding and adding until pretty soon I had come up with so many fabrics that I had enough to make a large twin size quilt.  I searched my project bag and found this pattern.  Marcea with Abbey Lane quilts had been in the shop and had left me several patterns to try out.  It's called Anthropology.  The colors and fabrics all work well together, they are from an array of different fabric collections.    Look really close at the block and the way they are arranged.  I think it's saying HI! 

 The binding fabric I chose was a diagonal two toned gingham check.  No need to cut on the bias.  Who doesen't love a diagonal binding.  It's my favorite thing about the quilt.

 The backing is from the same line as the binding.  It's called Happy Ever After by Sandra Workman of Riley Blake Designs.  Such a fun quilt to make.  Wouldn't this be so cute in a little girl's room?
