"TRICKS" and "TREATS"!

Well here it is just like I promised. I don't know why I let myself get so behind. There's a little bit of everything that's been going on the last couple of weeks at the Whitehouse. There's probably alot more that I could share but I think I've posted enough for today. Enjoy!

OHH SCARRY!

Oh my gosh, look at the surprise I got at the shop on Thursday. It's a scarry monster, only she's not so scarry. She's an adorable pink monster. Isn't that the cutest thing ever, or am I just the Grandma with bragging rights! I love seeing the kids dressed up in their costumes, we had had a few in the shop that morning after their school parties but this little one had them beat! Thanks Kaitlyn and Monster McKinley for stopping in and showing off your "TRICKS" and picking out your "TREAT" you sure do know how to make a Grandma's day! Can't wait to see Hatch, Karas, and Thayne all dressed up on Saturday now.

The stockings were hung...

For my Simply Sewing 101 group we are making these cute and simple stockings. Santa's sure to leave something special in them if they hung by the chimney with care. We will be meeting Tues. November 10th, 7:00 p.m. For all my girl's we are changing the location to my house, I think by making this change we won't have all the hustle and bustle at the church, just a quiet(yah right!)relaxing time with no one to intrupt our sewing time. Remember to get your supply list and cutting instructions before class. I can't wait to see all of you. It's going to be "SEW" fun. We need to see some new faces, "sew" feel free to join us. New quilts!

This is a quilt I've been working on for a little while. I don't know why I've been so long working on it, it wasn't a hard one to do. It's a new pattern called Cherry O's from Crazy Old Ladies. Thanks Emily for letting me be the first to try it out. But here's the bad thing, after I got all the rows sewed together it seemed a little offish to me, it's then I realized I had made a huge mistake. Huge, huge mistake. Every other row was to have a half circle block at the end of the row. Oh well, I wasn't going to unpick all of it or should I. I stewed about it all night, took it to work the next morning to get everyone's input. "Leave it, it looks fine the way it is," they all said. So all of my Cheery O's are lined up instead of scattered. Sorry I messed it up Emily. It's ok isn't it? So now there's 2 options how to put it together! I think that's the worst mistake I've ever made on a quilt. And I'm the one always telling everyone to read YOUR directions! Stupid me. Without further adew here she is: Cherry O's

She's made with several different prints from the shop and the best thing is, we have these all kitted and ready to go if you want one just like her minus my mistake!

A new fall quilt made from Gobble, Gobble from Sandy Gervais. Triple Treat Petite is the pattern I used from the Happy Hour book from Atkinson's Designs. Ramona quilted an all over leave design in varigated thread. She probably won't get used this fall because she's on display at the shop until all the kits are gone, but I will look forward to cuddling up with her next year.

Girl's Day Out!

While Angie was here for the weekend I got us all tickets to the Witchapalooza Saturday Matinee show at Gardner's Village. We had such a good time even if we weren't dressed as witches. Oh it's good to laugh. Laughter is such good medicine! I think we all needed that day out.

Sir Warlock was reminincsing about some of his past witches, but he stopped a minute to hit on Angie!

I've got you babe, I thought we were going to fall off our chairs this was so funny! They did an awsome job on all the characters and the costumes were great too.

This is one of Sir Warlock's witches from the 90's. Can you guess who she is? The outfit should tell you. I hope you guessed Madonna! What a hoot, check out that bra!

I suggest you try and get tickets for this show next year, something fun do to for Halloween. I certainly hope the girl's want to go next year because I sure do.

I'm in trouble!

Good bye old friend, Hello new one!
I've been doing a little of this lately, as if you couldn't tell by my blog slacking duties. We are finally getting up to speed at the Whitehouse. Boy, where have we been all this time, this is awsome stuff. Watching movies on this thing is like going to the movie theater, including the popcorn! The first movie we watched Stuart fixed me and Angie a big bowl of popcorn but when he returned he found Angie was sound asleep in the sleeping chair! lol Sorry you missed it Angie! The t.v. in the above photo has been a member of our family for almost 27 years now, does that make her an antique? We just don't know what to do with her now. Any takers? I promise I won't spend to much time here, I still have sewing to do remember!

Bathroom Chaois!

This is a lovely little note I found on the downstairs bathroom door when I got home from work a couple of weeks ago. Don't you just love it when stuff like this happens and companies coming for the weekend. Things were already a whirl wind around here as it was, this just added to it. Stuart handled everything just fine without me, just like usual. He's the best. And it's a good thing we have a son-in-law who is a plumber. We were up and running again in no time all except getting the new carpet dried out.

This is the culprit of it all, now how do you get a crack in the toilet tank? Were still trying to figure it out. We think it happened when we moved it out to lay the new tile back in April and it is just now showing up.

Vaccuming and fanning out the carpet trying to get it dried out. We couldn't get the pad to dry out so we had them come and replace it. Everything is back to working order. Let's hope we never have this happen again. Why is it that when you have the ugliest stuff on earth nothing like this never happens and the minute you remodel or get something nice to replace it something like this happens!

Perfect in every way!

Sorry I never got around to show off my perfect brownies that my brownie pan made. I have to say I love it, love it! I've since made another batch. Thanks alot Angie and Jacob, this might be trouble. (nr) Thanks again for such a great gift, it will get well used.

Finally!

We've been patiently waiting for the this cute new line of fabric to come in at the store and it finally made it on Tuesday. It's Authentic from Sweetwater for Moda. They are orginally a scapbooking company that now has expanded to fabric. It is adorable. It's black and celery. Just yummy. They have some really exciting patterns to go along with it to. I've already made a bag out of it for Marsha to take on a quilt trip that they left for early this morning (but that's a whole different story). I think I have to have a little of this don't you?

I think just about everyone at the shop has this bag now, it makes such a great project or travel bag. You can jam so much in it.

Boutique Season!

What a busy couple of weeks. Another Hobble Creek Barn Boutique has come and gone. This is a annual fall occassion for so many families and friends to get toghether to get together to start of their holiday shopping or to just for a fun day out. Alot of fun, but alot of hard work goes into putting this on. Thanks goes to Ellen for sticking with it another year. It was a sucess. We'll be back in the spring. We had a new comer this year. An old freind of Ellen's came to help out. Kaylene on the end then Me, Karen Peterson and Ellen.

We both showed up in purple and green and drinking our diet cokes. Kaylene was lots of fun to work with.

There's always a good variety of things to purchase. We had a few new vendors this years and as always Kathryn was back with her darling purses.

It's always good to see old freinds stop in and say hi during the show. We've been doing it for so many years you become freinds with so many good people. This is something I look forward to every year.

Something new in the Bakeshop!

I've been busy baking again, not in the kitchen but in the sewing room! Look at the display at the store. I switched it out on Thursday. We are now featuring Simple Abundance by Bonnie & Camille. This was such a fun line to work with. The quilt is called Abundance and is from Camille's pattern line called Thimbleblossom's. I will be teaching this class in our Bakeshop club on November 21st. Come join us for lots of fun and of course you won't want to miss the yummy treats.The tabletopper is a Disappearing 9-Patch that was featured on the Moda Bakeshop website. This is also going to be a class on November 5th. It's not to late to sign up for this one either.

Camille was featured on the Bakeshop with this fun peppermint swirl pincushion. We will have these in kits if you want to stop in and pick one up for yourself or maybe two or three for gifts. Let's start thinking about Christmas shall we?

Here are the pretty fabrics all in a row. We have already sold out of some of them, that's just how fun they are.

This is the apron on your lovely mannaquin. I think it's about time she has a name don't you? If she's going to be a permanent fixture here in the bakeshop she needs a name. What should it be? Can anyone help me with this? This could be a contest couldn't it. Well let's make it one and "SIMPLE" at that! Just leave a simple little comment and a suggestion on a name for our apron manny!

Look how easy these hot pads are. I used leftover layer cakes from the quilt to make them and I used the twill tape that it is tied up with for the hanger. Simple huh! I think this might have to be a Simply Sewing 101 project in the next couple months.

Oh,and this is how I kitted the quilt kits for the Abundance quilt, in a bakery cake box of course! This quilt uses a layer cake so I thought it would be fun to put it in a cake box, pretty clever huh?

I don't know what will be featured in the bakeshop for November, but I'm sure it will be something just as delightful as Simple Abundance. Don't forget to leave a comment. The prize will be one of the kits for the peppermint pincushions. That doesn't sound fair does it? Some of you might not sew, enter anyway. I will come up with another prize if you are the winner.
