"I'm leaving on a Jet Plane!"

Big news! I have been invited by a dear friend to attend the International Quilt Market in Minneapolis one month from today. Can I just say how exciting this is for me. I have always wanted to attend something like this. I hear it is the best. I have known since January that I would be going, but I thought I would wait to share the news until it got a little closer. Emily with Crazy Old Ladies Quilts has asked me to help decorate her booth. We leave May 19th which will be here before you know it. We will have a couple days to go sight seeing. First on the list would be the Mall of America of course! Let the shopping start there, and what's left from that adventure will be spent at market! Emily and I have been working on some awesome things for the booth, top secret though. You will just have to wait to see pictures after our trip.
I want to take this opportunity to thank Emily for her friendship. I have only known her for about a year, she is one of our regulars at the shop. But it seems like I have known her for so much longer. She is a go getter, never sits still and she always has a new idea for a quilt stirring in her brain. Emily has been having some health issues that should of held her back, but no she just keeps going and going just like the Energizer Bunny. I have missed her coming in for our weekly chatter. She's on the mend now and just in time for the trip. I just hope she hasn't used up all her energy getting ready to go. She's going to need some extra to keep up with me and my shoppping. But wait, I know she has the same habits as mine, fabric! We should get along just fine.
Let the countdown begin!

Bag Ladies!

Calling all bag ladies to come join in on the fun for making this great bag from Melly & Me. This is the Out & About bag. It can hold your laptop or you could use it as a school bag, church bag, etc. I have one of these bags that I tote around to classes that I'm teaching. I love it! It holds file folders and a binder just perfect. This is one of Melly and Me's easiest bags that I have made so far. If your laptop isn't the size they have directions for, they have also put down the instructions for making it bigger. I'm going to have to make a new bigger one, cause my sweet husband just bought me a lappy for our anniversary and it's a tad bigger than the bag I have. It has a sweet blue top so I need it to matchy, matchy don't you think? The sample bag in the pictures is made from the Wonderland collection from Momo. (By the way you should see their new line. One word, Adorable!) The inside of the bag has two interior pockets that hold your cords and and other things needed for you laptop. But you could also put a couple more to hold pens and cell phone.

My first class is next Thursday, April 22nd @ 6:00 p.m. This class is full so I've added another one on the 6th of May @ 6:00 also. If you want to participate in that one, call the shop and they can get you signed up, or better yet come in and see me and let's pick out something spectacular for your bag. (Like Freebird from MoMo) Don't put it off too long because there is only about 5 openings for this class. I hope I get to see some of you there. Come sew with us, I haave my regulars but I always like to meet new friends and I would like one of them to be YOU!

And the winner is!

I'm sorry for being a day late on the jewelry pouch give away. I was just to tired to blog yesterday afternoon after I got home from a wonderful four day sewing and quilting retreat. (More on that later). Thanks to all of you that left comments on my 300th post. It was so fun reading about everyone's piece of jewelry. I never did tell you about mine, so here goes. I have several peices that I love. My wonderful husband has always spoiled me with nice jewelry. But the 3 most loved pieces came each time I was in the hospital when our kids were being born. When Kira was born he gave me a nice pair of diamond earrings that matched the necklace he gave me on our wedding day. The second is a diamond horseshow ring that he gave me when Jacob was born. And the third piece is the beautiful mother's ring he gave me when Kaitlyn was born. These have been cherished pieces since then. Everytime I put a different piece on I think of the occasion it came with, like a silver and gold ring Stuart gave me for Christmas following the death of my Dad. The minute I put it on I think of him. I could go on and on about the stories behind each piece, but here is what you have all been waiting for. So Martine and Ginger please e-mail me with your addresses so I can get your pouches out to you. Thanks everyone for being such faithful followers. Just through the blogging world I have made several friends. Hopefully this summer I will have the chance to meet my friend Yvonne from the Netherlands. This is a story that needs to be shared so I will blog about it at a later time.

Time is running out!

Where, oh where are my blogging friends? Maybe some of you didn't know there's a little bit of a give away going on right here on my blog. It's not to late to get in on the fun, just go to the entry titled Simply Sewing 101 and read all about it. I will extend the date until Saturday so more people can participate. Spread the word to all your friends. I know I have more than 5 followers, and I know your out there reading this! Watch Saturdays post for the winners, yes I said winners. That must mean there will be 2 lucky bloggers to win. Thanks to those of you who have left comments so far, I have had so much fun reading about your jewelry. Besides fabric, jewelry would have to be my next favorite thing! Come play along.

#29

Happy Anniversary to my wonderful husband and best friend. Today Stuart and I are celebrating our 29th wedding anniversary. Twenty nine years ago today it was snowing just like it is today. It brings back so many memories of our special day, what a great day it was and that's how it's been ever since, GREAT.
I am so lucky to have this guy in my life. I keep telling him I don't know what I'd do without him, he's always waiting on me hand and foot. I am so appreaitive for everything he has done for me over the years. I hope we have many more to share.
We won't be celebrating in a big way, a nice dinner out at one of favorite spots. We are saving up to celebrate in a big way next year on our #30th.
Happy Anniversary Stuart, I love you more!
