Geared For Guys!

Is it May 26th already? Back in April my good friend, Emily asked if I would participate in her Geared for Guys 30 day 30 books blog tour. I just about forgot that today was my day and how can you say no to an offer like that. So here goes. When I was in school(back in the day)I really wasn't the best at finishing books and then giving the book reports on it. But give me a quilt book and I can read it from cover to cover and that's just what I have done with Em's book. I love it and I really like that it is geared just for the guys(or gals) we all have in our lives.
Emily and I have become very good friends over the last 4 years through her visits to the Corn Wagon, her local quilt shop in Springville. I have had the privilege to travel to quilt markets, cheered her on when she tells me about new ideas for patterns and I have been supporting her from the side lines from start to finish of this awesome book. And we even do lunch almost every Wednesday to talk about quilting, of course. Here she is showing it for the first time at a trunk show I was able to attend with her. You can tell she's excited about it can't you? She should be. Well I am excited for her too, it takes a lot of time and effort to do something this grand. My hat is off to her today for doing a great job on it.
A couple of my favorites in the book are Switchback which is pictured below. What a design!
And the Odd ball quilt is a geometric, modern day quilt. Any of the quilts in Em's book could be done with just about anything and still look terrific. I can't wait to play with all of them. And I will probably be making some out of girly prints too, who said this was strictly a guys book of quilts!
Her book is out now. You can pick it up at quilt shops everywhere. I know she has many orders that she received at market last week. By the way you can get it in book form or PDF , you can get them through her Etsy shop. Emily has her third line of fabric coming out later this summer called "Shore Thing" with Michael Miller. Watch for this follow up to "Going Coastal" that was so popular last summer.
Now for some more good news, Emily's given me a book for a give-a-way. Leave me a comment on what you are doing fun this Memorial Day weekend and does it involve any sewing. Oh, remember Father's Day is just around the corner. It's not too late to get started on that guy quilt. Win this book or pick one up at your favorite shop and get SEWing!

This book looks fabulous! We are going to see the monster trucks show tomorrow. Hopefully I'll get some sewing in this weekend... I have some kids clothes that are just about finished that I need to get out of my sewing area so I can start some new projects. Thanks for a chance to win! :)

Emily's book look fabulous and I want to make a few of those patterns, especially Oddball and Switchback. I would have finished making a bag this afternoon if I would have remembered to get a magnetic closure!!! I have the whole outside and lining finished, so I just need to add the magnet and put the lining in.

This is just a regular weekend here in Canada, but I do plan to sew. I have been working on a quilt for what seems like weeks and it is time to get moving.

This weekend started off helping a friend move. Boo hoo! She was my best quilting buddy! Not sure if I will get to sew this weekend.

I would love to make one of these quilts for my hubby for fathers day! Our dog chewed holes in a T shirt quilt I had made with his high school and college shirts. I would love to make him another quilt!

The quilt I made my husband is his favorite! He won't ever share. I could use this book to make my 4 boys their own quilts so they can leave their dads alone! I hope to play a little in my sewing room this weekend.

This book looks just fabulous. With 4 big guys and a Grandson and 2 FIL's I am sure I can put the book to good use.

I really like her next fabric line. That has great colors and design to it.

We are doing nothing this weekend. Relaxing is the key word in our house but I may talk hubby into wandering to the nursery or somewhere to pick up some tomato plants and get those planted. It's getting late in my thinking and I really want to get them in the ground.

Such a neat book and these quilts are gorgeous. My plans this weekend are to stay home. hehe. I'm happy to just stay in and catch up on my sewing. I have some hand piecing to do and some embroidery. I'm also going to have my grandson (almost 19 months) stay over. Love being a grandma!

Thank you for a super giveaway and a chance to win.

Well since it is not a long weekend in Canada, I only have to work 2 days instead of 3 this weekend. Had a lovely long weekend last week- worked on a quilt for my daughter. Love the book- I know I will be making the Gamer quilt for my son(would that be considered encouraging gaming...or just being a realist!)

It would be grand to win a copy of Emily's book -- as have a brother who I've wanted to make a quilt yet stuck at choosing a guy design. Over Memorial Day weekend we went to my mother's old house for a day and enjoyed the yard and watching boats travel down the canal. No sewing then. Will be home Monday for sewing.

I am sewing a wonky log cabin blanket for my son. My husband is at the 500 and so the kids and I are going to find something to do (preferably inside because it's a scorcher) this weekend. Thanks for the opportunity to win the book.

I'm hosting granddaughter & a friend for the night, snacking, sitting outside, cleaning my sewing table, and watching some movies on Netflix.

And, working on my yo-yo quilt. I made over 400 yo-yos and am sewing the strips of 20 together.

This is just a fantastic book! It's raining here and cold!, so no yardwork which leaves plenty of time to sew up a few drawstring totes! Thanks for the giveaway.
